Talking Tools is for tradespeople in the Murrumbidgee to promote awareness for mental health, wellbeing and suicide prevention.
Sadly, the suicide rate among young tradesmen in Australia is 3 times higher than for other men and construction workers are at least six times more likely to die by suicide than on workplace accidents.
The Talking Tools aims to work with workplaces, employees, and apprentices to raise awareness about mental health stressors that can impact individuals in trades and farming industries.
Talking Tools can provide the following supports to your workplace:
- Resources that promote positive mental health and wellbeing including; stickers, posters, hats and information for managers and staff
- Training and education tailored to your workplace that can assist in preparing how to recognise the signs of mental health concerns, distress or suicidality
- Opportunity to host a tradie based BBQ once a month
- Fortnightly podcast involvement – sharing lived experience, hints and tips for managing wellbeing and self-care
